Safety on Playr
Meeting people to play sport with means meeting people you don't know yet. Here's exactly what Playr does to make that safer, and what's on you.
Verified before you're visible
Every account completes phone verification and age verification before it can be found by other users, sent match requests, or join or create teams. Age verification uses a camera-based estimate, with an identity document fallback where needed. Playr is intended for adults aged 18 and over only.
Moderated, not just monitored
- Automated photo moderation - every profile and gallery photo is screened by an automated moderation service before it becomes visible to other users.
- Automated message moderation - one-to-one and team chat messages are screened by an automated moderation service on a rolling basis.
- Human review - content flagged by automated moderation, and every user report, is reviewed by an admin. Nothing serious is resolved by an algorithm alone.
Location stays approximate
Your general area is used to calculate distance to other players and teams, and shown to others only as a distance - for example "3.2 mi" - never as raw coordinates or an exact address.
Report and block, anytime
You can report a profile, message, or piece of content directly from within the app at any time. Reports go to a real person, not just a queue. You can also block anyone, immediately cutting off their ability to contact you or see your profile.
Meeting up safely
- Keep communication on Playr until you're comfortable - you don't need to share personal contact details early.
- Arrange your first meetup in a public place, at a normal time.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you're never obligated to go through with a meetup.
Our commitment to preventing CSAE
Playr has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation in any form, backed by verification, moderation, and cooperation with the relevant authorities when something is identified. Read the full Child Safety Standards for the complete policy, including how to report a concern.
More detail
For the full legal detail behind all of this, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. You can also read how to delete your account and what happens to your data when you do.
