Playr Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Playr, an app that helps people find others to play sport with, one-to-one or as part of a team or group. By creating an account or otherwise using Playr, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Playr.

Who we are

Playr is operated by PlayrMatch LTD. Our registered office is 124-128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. You can contact us about these Terms at playrmatch@gmail.com. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.

Eligibility

• You must be 18 or older to use Playr. We verify this using phone and age verification (see the Privacy Policy for how that works) - accounts that fail or skip age verification stay restricted until it passes.
• You must provide accurate information - your real name, date of birth, and a bio and photo that genuinely represent you.
• One account per person. Accounts are personal to you and can't be transferred.
• You must not use Playr if you've been convicted of a violent or sexual offence, or if you're required to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction.

Community guidelines

You'll see these presented during sign-up, and they apply for as long as you use Playr:

• Be yourself - your profile photo, age, and bio should reflect who you really are.
• Stay safe - keep communication on Playr and don't give out personal contact details too early. Arrange sporting meetups in public places.
• Be a good sport - be respectful to others, humble in victory, graceful in defeat.
• Report bad behaviour - if someone breaks these guidelines, report them so we can look into it.

Content you post

You're responsible for the messages, profile details, and photos you post. By posting content, you grant Playr a licence to store and display it as needed to operate the service (for example, showing your profile to other users, or delivering your messages to the person you sent them to). You keep ownership of your content.

You must not post content that:

• Is illegal, threatening, hateful, or sexually explicit
• Impersonates someone else or misrepresents your identity, including your age
• Involves or sexualises anyone under 18, in any way
• Harasses, threatens, or bullies another user
• Is spam, a scam, or unrelated commercial promotion

Profile photos are automatically screened before becoming visible to others, and messages are screened in scheduled sweeps after being sent - see the Privacy Policy for details. Either can result in content being rejected or hidden, and repeated or serious violations can lead to account suspension or removal (see "Moderation and enforcement" below).

If you believe someone is using your photo or other content on Playr without your permission, email us at playrmatch@gmail.com with details and we'll investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Acceptable use

Beyond the content rules above, you must not:

• Scrape, harvest, or collect other users' data, or use bots or other automated tools to access Playr
• Try to bypass Playr's security, rate limits, or moderation systems
• Create a new account to evade a suspension or ban
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except as permitted by law

Meetups and in-person safety

Playr helps you find people to play sport with - what happens when you actually meet up is between you and them. We carry out phone and age verification, but we don't run background checks, and we can't guarantee the conduct, identity, or intentions of any user you match with.

• Arrange to meet in public places, especially the first time.
• Tell a friend or family member where you're going.
• Sport carries an inherent risk of injury - that risk is yours to accept when you choose to take part.
• Use your own judgement, and report any concerning behaviour to us.

Moderation and enforcement

We use a combination of automated screening and admin review to catch content or behaviour that breaks these Terms or the community guidelines above. Automated message screening may also prompt the recipient of a flagged message to report or block the sender, and may show a sender who appears to be in distress a prompt with support resources. If we determine you've broken them, we may, at our discretion:

• Remove the content in question
• Temporarily suspend your account
• Permanently remove your account

You can report another user's behaviour or content from within the app. Reports are reviewed by an admin, not resolved automatically. Making a report you know to be false, or reporting someone to harass them, is itself a breach of these Terms.

Your account

• You can sign in with an email and password, or with Google. Keep your login details secure (or your Google account secure, if you use that to sign in) - you're responsible for activity on your account.
• You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or from playrmatch.net by confirming a code sent to your registered email. This removes your profile, messages, and team memberships, as described in the Privacy Policy.
• We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, as described above.

Premium

Playr offers a Premium tier that unlocks extra features on top of the free tier - currently, additional teams/groups, more active matches at once, extra profile photos, advanced search filters, seeing who's viewed your profile, message read receipts, and priority placement in search and team results. Which perks are available can change over time.

• Early-access promo: the first 1,000 accounts ever created on Playr get Premium permanently; the next 2,000 get 12 months of Premium free; every account after that gets 2 months free. This is applied automatically based on signup order and isn't something you need to request.
• Separately, we may grant, extend, or revoke Premium on any account at our discretion - for example as a goodwill gesture, for testing, or as a consequence of breaking these Terms (see "Moderation and enforcement" above).
• Premium status is personal to your account and can't be transferred, sold, gifted, or exchanged for cash.

Buying Premium

• Paid Premium subscriptions are available on a monthly or annual basis, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play from the Playr app on iOS or Android. Purchases aren't currently available on the web/PWA version of Playr.
• The price, billing period, and any free trial are shown before you buy, and are set by Apple or Google's store, in your local currency.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before it renews. You manage and cancel your subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings, not within Playr itself.
• Payment is collected and processed by Apple or Google as part of your app store account - we never receive or store your card details. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies; we can't issue refunds directly.
• If we suspend or remove your account for breaking these Terms, any active paid subscription is cancelled going forward, but this doesn't entitle you to a refund for the current billing period.

Third-party services

Playr relies on third-party providers to operate (for example, hosting, age verification, content moderation, sign-in, subscription billing, and weather forecasts for outdoor events) - see the Privacy Policy for the full list and what each one does. We aren't responsible for the availability or performance of these third-party services.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Playr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any particular match, meetup, or outcome will occur.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Playr and PlayrMatch LTD won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including anything arising from meetups, sporting activity, or interactions with other users arranged through it. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Playr and PlayrMatch LTD against losses, claims, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, or your conduct towards other users, except to the extent caused by our negligence or our own breach of these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and Playr both agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection right you have to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback about Playr, we can use them to improve the app without owing you anything in return.

General

• If Playr's business changes hands - for example, if it's sold or transferred - these Terms transfer with it. You can't transfer your rights under these Terms to someone else.
• If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the community guidelines above, are the whole agreement between you and Playr about your use of the app.
